Time lock - Sargent & Greenleaf, Model 2 (Type 6) time lock, two mvts, heavy brass case with locking front lid (locking key is included with this lot as pictured), signed display glass, two black enamel 46-hour dials, KW (a key is included with this lot as pictured), gilt mvts with a shared main plate, s#777 within case. A piece with tremendous eye-appeal for the time lock collector, this particular example has the distinction of being the front cover piece of John Erroll's "American Genius: Nineteenth-Century Bank Locks and Time Locks." From the collection of John Erroll, co-author of American Genius: Nineteenth-Century Bank Locks and Time Locks. A copy of the book will be included with this lot. CONDITION:
Mvts: NR, both balances gummy and not moving freely, overhaul needed, nearly mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, some mild light haze spots to plate surface; nearly flawless dials, right side dial with short perimeter scratch between 12 and 14; case shows light to medium wear, scattered exterior scratches, areas of finish loss, good display glass, good locking function.
